Enjoy the Simple Life

A Place Where Everybody Knows Your Name

The Ideal Community Blend

Small Enough to Love, Large Enough to Thrive

Village of Avoca is the type of community that everyone would like to grow up in. Small, peaceful, and active, who wouldn’t want to live here? It’s busy enough to start a small business, but small enough to be a safe neighborhood for your children to grow and play. We welcome you to visit Avoca, NY and experience its local farming, recreational park, playgrounds, and small businesses. Avoca is a wonderful place that everyone should enjoy.

Avoca was first settled around 1794 and incorporated as a village in 1883. The village was previously known as "Eight Mile Tree" and "Buchanan" before it adopted the current name, which is thought to come from Avoca in Ireland. The change to Avoca is reported to be the deathbed wish of a young girl who admired the name.

We are the proud recipients of the Water Quality Fluoridation Award for the last four consecutive years because of our excellent water system. We are also currently renovating park areas to create a new playground, field, and pavilion on older land that was given to the village. Our aim is to provide our residents with the maximum amount of services while keeping property taxes as low as possible.
